Brick & Mortar Music was founded in 2014 by Jeremy and Allison Carney—lifelong music lovers and dedicated advocates for music education. With industry roots stretching back to the late ’90s, they envisioned a space where beginners, hobbyists, and professionals could come together to explore quality instruments, gain expert guidance, and experience a welcoming, hands-on environment.
The 2007 economic recession led to widespread cuts in school music and extracurricular programs, forcing the music industry to adapt. Out of strong relationships with music teachers and local musicians, Jeremy and Allison built a company committed to sharing their passion and bridging the gap for rural communities that lacked access to music resources.
Today, Jeremy supports over 40 school districts as an Educational Road Rep, delivering instruments, accessories, and personalized service to more than 100 music teachers within a 100-mile radius. Their partnership with the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam includes classroom presentations, student internships, and on-campus support—helping cultivate the next generation of music educators and professionals.
